I’ve decided to participate in the wordpress weekly photo challenge *crowd cheers!
Here’s how it works…
Each week, wordpress provides a theme for creative inspiration. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog anytime before the following Friday when the next photo theme will be announced.
The intent is to take a new photograph, but I’m going to do things a little differently and instead post old photos from my travels (Canada and international) as well. This summer is lacking in travel trips because of a future jaunt in the fall. More on that to come, but it rhymes with ‘regalia’. ha! This means, however, that I have some space to fill in my travel blog and reliving some of my favourite travel memories sounds like the perfect thing to do!
So here it is …. SUMMER
I chose this photo because it’s close to home (literally) and a great way to kick off this photo series. Point Pelee is the southernmost mainland part of Canada and is only a 40 minute drive from my family’s house in Windsor, Ontario. Every summer, I drive out to the ‘point’ with friends or family. My dog, Oli, always accompanies me, but he absolutely hates the water. As you can see in this photo, he walks in the middle, avoiding any close calls with the gentle waves of Lake Erie. He won’t even dip a paw and, I guess, rightfully so. Although the water looks calm, there are dangerous undercurrents and swimming is prohibited at the Tip (shown in the photo). There are safe beach areas elsewhere in the park, but the water quality isn’t so great. Still, it’s a relaxing day trip with good walking trails and apparently it’s a bird watcher’s haven, too. Who knew?

One of my favourite places to go for a relaxing day.
